Douglas Scott Eiserman

Douglas Scott Eiserman, 77, of Lebanon, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 2, 2022 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.  He was born Tuesday, September 11, 1945 in Hanover to the late Paul and Doris (Hershey) Eiserman.  He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sue (Walker) Eiserman.

Doug spent the first half of his life in Hanover, following in his father’s entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating a general variety store, Eiserman’s Discount Store on Elm Avenue.  Hanover is where he was introduced to the sport of bowling in 1958—it was love at first roll.  He quickly excelled to become one of the top bowlers in the area and rolled his first perfect game on Mother’s Day 1979.  He and his wife purchased Palmyra Bowling in 1981 a landmark that is still owned and operated by the Eiserman family.  From 1985 to 1994 he owned and operated East York Bowling in the York County Shopping Center, later merging the business with Colony Park East.  He enjoyed every aspect of his profession with a special passion for bowling instruction.  He was a lifelong learner, continuously attending seminars and taking courses to improve the family business and deliver a superior experience to anyone visiting Palmyra Bowling.  He held several industry positions, most notably BPAA Eastern Region Director and PA BPA State President.  He earned many accolades and awards in his career including BPAA Certificate of Achievement for substantial achievement and unselfish service to PA, York County Bowling Hall of Fame 1991 inductee, Lebanon District Bowling Association 1997 inductee.  Most of all Doug will be remembered for his helping hand, having fun and inspiring others to do good.  Since the early 1990’s he has been instrumental in providing a merrier Christmas for those in need, offering bowling, food and gifts every Christmas Eve to over 100 families.  He loved the greater Palmyra community and worked tirelessly to keep PABA active and involved.  He was a larger than life man, with a larger than life heart for mentoring and giving.

He is survived by three daughters, Beth Bohnert and husband Brett of TN, Christine Morrison and husband Harry of Lebanon and Amy Eiserman and husband Mike O’Heare of Annville; three grandsons, Andrew Bohnert and wife Rebecca of TX, Ryan Bohnert and fiancé Lorel of Mechanicsburg, Nathaniel Dawson and significant other Maureen of OR; a great granddaughter, Ellie Bohnert; a brother, Richard Eiserman and wife Dottie of Hanover.  He was predeceased by a brother, Mark Eiserman.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held Thursday, December 8th from 1-7 PM at The Sinkhole Saloon & Grille, 1218 East Main Street, Palmyra, PA 17078.  Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.  Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra has been entrusted with the arrangements.
